For Dowry Demands, Man Allegedly Beats Up Wife And Pours Acid On Her In Kerala

A man in Alapuzha locale in Kerala supposedly beat up his better half and poured acid on her, asking for more dowry. She was left with grievous wounds.

As indicated by an statement given to the police by the 31-year-old lady, her husband and relative used to frequently fight with her and torment her for not bringing enough dowry.

The lady claimed that at the time of her wedding, nine years back, her parents had promised to give Rs. 2 lakh in cash and 20 sovereigns of gold as settlement. However, they could just give the gold and because of that she was tormented.

On June 6, the lady’s better half professedly hit her on the head with a piece of firewood and as she lay on the floor with blood overflowing out, he tossed acid at her, police said.

Despite the fact that she figured out how to secure her face, the acid gave her burn wounds on her ears, neck and back. She was taken to a taluk hospital by her mom whom she had called for help, they said.

On the premise of the lady’s complaint at a Punalur police headquarters in Kollam on June 10, her husband and mother-in-law were reserved for mercilessness and causing grievous hurt by the utilization of acid, police said.

Since the occurrence happened at Chengannur, the case was transferred and re-enlisted.

Examinations have started, Chengannur police sources stated, including endeavors are to grab the lady’s better half who is absconding
