Doctors stunned to find a spider inside a Bengaluru woman’s ear canal

File this one under ‘Things We Wish We Could Unsee.’ Turns out, the horrifying source of a Bengaluru lady’s “excruciating” headache was a spider, still alive, inside her ear. A video posted on YouTube demonstrates the exact moment the tiny eight-legged creature crawls out of her ear. It’s ensured to give you the heebie-jeebies.

As per the Daily Mail, the lady, recognized just as Lekshmi L, took an afternoon nap in her veranda. When she woke up, she had “a nagging headache, slight discomfort in her right ear and an inexplicable tingling sensation.”

She reportedly told doctors that the pain became “excruciating” after she dug her finger into her ear canal and later requested her daughter to shine a torch into her ear.

That is when her better half hurried her to the Columbia Asia Hospital in Hebbal.

Doctors there say they were surprised to detect a spider, still particularly alive, in her ear canal.

“It is common to see emergency room visits because of the presence a foreign object in the ear and it takes a simple procedure to expel the object,” Dr Santosh Shivaswamy, a consultant at the hospital’s ear, nose and throat department said.

“However, when a living insect makes its way inside a human ear, the patient’s anxiety makes it hard to proceed with the procedure,” he included. “It was rare to see a live spider moving inside somebody’s ear canal.”

As per the Mirror, doctors poured a “liquid medicine” inside her ear canal and taped as the spider scurried out.

“I was terrified as I could feel the movement of a creature in my ear,” the Mirror detailed Lekshmi as saying.

Fortunately, doctors affirmed that there was no lasting harm to the lady’s ear.
