Travelling to Bangkok from Jaipur will be much more easy now as the Thai Sime Airways is set to start direct flights between the two cities by November 2016 this year.
“Jaipur will be connected to Bangkok by a direct flight from November 16. The four-hour flight will further encourage in-bound and outbound tourism between the two regions,” said Isra Stapanaseth, director, Tourism Authority of Thailand, New Delhi, here.
He said India is an emerging market for Thailand not only for leisure travel but also for big fat Indian weddings, film shoots, and MICE activities. “Thailand provides everything for all segments. Last year, more than 1 million Indian tourists visited the country registering a growth of 14.5%. We expect a similar growth this year as well,” added Stapanaseth.
Earlier this month, Singapore Airlines Group arm Scoot started three-weekly flights between Jaipur and Singapore offering onward journeys to Bangkok, which is a jewellery hub frequented by the jewellers of the Pink City.
“We are targeting to connect tier-II and tier-II cities of India with the tier-II and tier-III cities of Thailand. The flight to Jaipur will also attract visitors from nearby cities like Jodhpur, Bikaner, Alwar, Ajmer, etc,”added Stapanaseth.
Thailand is now targeting new segments such as women, senior citizens, and bachelors who are now venturing out and their number is growing.
