Mumbai: The trailer of ‘Happy Bhaag Jayegi’ is out and we’re really hoping the film is worth the hype. The film produced by Aanand L. Rai of Tanu Weds Manu and Raanjhanaa fame is about a runaway bride who not only gets families but two entire countries involved with her crazy decisions.
Both Abhay Deol and Cocktail actor Diana Penty are back on the big screen, and their comedic chemistry will leave you in splits. The movie has been directed by Mudassar Aziz who is best known for directing 2010's Dulha Mil Gaya starring Sushmita Sen, Fardeen Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Aanand L. Rai, director of the Tanu Weds Manu films and Raanjhanaa dons the producer's heart.
Diana Penty plays a loudmouthed bride who runs away on the night of her marriage with Jimmy Sheirgill's character. Accidentally, she ends up in the Pakistani home of Abhay Deol. The rest of the film surrounds the comedic situations that arise from the conundrum, which ends up involving families of everyone involved, including both the country's governments, people and media.
Model Diana Penty made her debut in 2012 with the Deepika Padukone-starrer Cocktail. She was highly praised for her performance as a coy, soft-spoken Indian girl in the romantic drama co-starring Saif Ali Khan. Since then, she was curiously missing from action.
On the other hand, Abhay Deol was last seen in his 2014 home production One By Two. Though the film received mixed reviews, it tanked at the box office. As it is, Deol has not done many movies in the past few years. Watching both Deol and Penty in action after such a long time is a welcoming experience.
The film also stars Ali Fazal who plays the role of Diana Penty's character's boyfriend. He was last seen in 2015's romantic film Khamoshiyan. Happy Bhag Jayegi is slated to release on August 19 this year.
