Delhi: Woman raped in ladies coach of moving train


NEW DELHI: A woman in her early 30’s was allegedly raped and robbed of her valuables in the ladies coach of a moving train between Shahdara and Old Delhi railway stations in a yet another shocking incident from Delhi, the police said on Saturday.

Four out of five women who were sitting in the ladies coach of the train de-boarded the train at Shahdara railway station and three men boarded the coach from Shahdara, they further said.

As one of three man allegedly raped her in the ladies compartment of the moving train and even beat her up, the other two men robbed her of her bag and fled, they added to their set of statements.

The woman who was trying to fight back the man sexually assaulting her was seen by two constables who boarded the train, police further said.

The man and the woman were taken to the hospital, when the train reached Old Delhi Railway Station.

The accused was identified as Shahbaz aged nearly about 25 years, was arrested and a case was registered against him under the relevant sections of law.

The woman was coming to Delhi to attend a family function and she belongs to Bihar.
