New Delhi: A four-year-old girl died on 19 October after falling into a septic tank in north-west Delhi's Swaroop Nagar. The girl has been identified as Nandni, a resident of Kushak Gaon of Swaroop Nagar.The deceased has been identified as Nandni who lived with her parents in Kushak Gaon of Swaroop Nagar. Her father works as an auto driver.
The incident took place when she was returning home with her mother and accidentally fell into a septic tank near Sujan Singh International School. The mother also jumped into the tank but was unable to save the child and was pulled out by the locals.
The girl’s family has alleged that the police and rescue teams from fire department arrived late causing a delay in fishing out their daughter from the tank. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.
Locals claim the septic tank belongs to the school. Parents along with residents protested near the spot against local administration. The police are probing the matter.
Police officials said a case under section 306 and 304 (A) has been registered against unknown person on the basis of the call received by the Police Control Room. “The police will establish the accountability of the school administration as the septic tank belongs to the school. The school authorities will be questioned as to why the tank was left open,” a senior police official said.
