Delhi: 2 killed, 4 wounded as truck overturns, crushes two cars


New Delhi: On Thursday morning near ESI Hospital in west Delhi’s Basaidarapur area, two people were killed and four others wounded after a truck overturned and crashed into two cars. According to the police officials, the occurrence took place at 7 am.

 The truck swerved to avoid striking a woman, who was crossing the road but the driver lost control and hit a divider. The truck overturned on the other side of the carriageway and chop atop two cars. Police officials have also further conveyed that, one of the cars hit the pedestrian, who died on the spot.

 While 65-year-old Murti Devi was killed, her grand-daughter has been admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and is critical. Police officials have also further conveyed that, the three persons in the other car conventional slight injuries and are out of danger.

 A senior police officer conveyed that, “a 52-year-old woman was trying to cross the road and the truck driver tried to swerve to avoid hitting her. Though, he lost control and hit the divider. The impact was so harsh that the truck went on the other side of the carriageway.

 It first hit a Red Honda Amaze, in which Devi and her grand-daughter were moving, and then hit a White Alto.” He has also further conveyed adding that, a case has been filed next to the driver at Rajouri Garden police station under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304 A (causing death by negligence).

 The driver is desertion. Devi’s husband Jai Prakash conveyed that, his wife was departing to her brother’s place in Gurgaon. He has also further conveyed that, she was very happy as there was a naming ceremony at her brother’s place.

 She sought to go by car but I persisted that she takes the Metro. Though, she went in the car along with our grand daughter who was driving. That was the last time I spoke to her. Prakash added that his grand daughter, a second-year student, was supposed to go to college following dropping his wife.
