Mexico: An earthquake of magnitude 7.1 hit Mexico on Tuesday that takes the lives of several people. The death toll of people has reached to 230, as per the reports.
On Tuesday, people witnessed shakiness of the earthquake and are already taking medical help, President Enrique Pena Nieto affirmed.
“Let us remain calm. The important thing today is that many of you have been delivered to safety,” he stated.
The victims are being given help by the government on priority basis. The rescue work is in process to evacuate the people.
“I am here to make a commitment of support from the government,” Pena Nieto affirmed.
In Mexico, three days of national mourning have been announced. Several people have lost their family members and many others lost their homes as the shakiness of an earthquake was very strong.
As per the reports, nearly 39 buildings were completely damaged in Mexico City, Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera affirmed.
Around 209 schools were destroyed and nearly 500 are required to be investigated following the earthquake.
The calamity takes the lives of nearly 32 students and five adults in Mexico. It is believed that the death toll is likely to increase soon.
The rescue operators have started the rescue operation in Mexico since the buildings in close states are usually shorter.
“We’ve still got an emergency there,” Government Secretary Miguel Angel Osorio affirmed.
