Portuguese Champion Cristiano Ronaldo clinched Ballon d’Or award for 2017’s best player for the fifth time on Thursday.
In the list, Cristiano Ronaldo secured first position, Barcelona player Lionel Messi second and Brazilian Neymar achieved third.
In Champions League, Ronaldo was the top-scorer as Real Madrid fruitfully protected the trophy with win against Juventus in the month of June.
“Of course I feel glad. This is great I look forward to every year,” Ronaldo stated.
“The trophies clinched in 2016 assisted to win this award. Gratitude to my Real Madrid team-mates. And I would like to show gratitude to the rest of the people who lend a hand to me to attain this level.”
He achieved 42 goals in all challenges for Real year 2016 and also qualified 15 times in European World Cup.
Ronaldo will head Portugal team at 2018 World Cup that will take place in Russia.
“I expect to play at this level for a few more years, I wish the match with Messi carry on, things happen for a motive,” he added.
“Neymar has a lot of expertise, loads of latent, and I’m confident he’ll have some opportunity to clinch in the future,” Ronaldo affirmed.
Veteran Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon ended fourth following assisting Juventus to the Champions League final whereas Real’s Croatian midfielder Luka Modric finished top five.
