CPI(M) MLA gets 3-month jail for threatening police in Kerala


KANNUR:  A N Shamsheer Khan, a Communist Party of India (Marxist) MLA, has been sentenced three months of imprisonment for threatening policemen during a protest march organised by the Students Federation of India [SFI] in 2012 in Kannur.

A fine of Rs 2,000 was additionally imposed on the Kerala MLA by the first class judicial magistrate’s court.

Shamseer, the MLA for Thalassery has been awarded the three months imprisonment due to a case related to the threat that he made to policemen if they attacked SFI activists during a march. After the incident a case against Shamsheer was registered by the Sub-inspector Sanal Kumar of Kannur.

Shamseer after the verdict, told the reporters that he would file an appeal against the order.
