Cong Working Committee Meet in Delhi to Discuss Presidential Poll


The Congress Working Committee, led by party president Sonia Gandhi, met in New Delhi on 6 June to talk about the current political circumstance and the up and coming presidential elections.

The meeting of the highest decision-making body of the party, which was held at Sonia Gandhi’s living arrangement, was gone to by gathering VP Rahul Gandhi and previous Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Others at the meeting included top Congress pioneers Ghulam Nabi Azad, P Chidambaram, Ambika Soni, Janardan Dwiwedi and other CWC individuals.

Party sources said the CWC is required to endorse the timetable for authoritative surveys. As per the timetable, the following Congress president must be chosen by 15 October.

At the CWC’s November meeting, party individuals, including previous Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and senior pioneer AK Antony, had made a solid pitch for Rahul to assume control over the reins of the gathering.

The CWC met when the Congress is trying to join restriction parties in front of the presidential decision. It needs an expansive coalition of resistance gatherings set up in front of the 2019 Lok Sabha races to go up against the BJP.

According to party sources, the issue of cow vigilantism was also discussed during the meeting.
