Coimbatore: On Tuesday at Sungam a 41-yr-old man killed on spot following he was hit by a truck. The other suffered grievance and has been admitted at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).

The departed was recognized as M Kumar, 41, of Arumugam Street at Ramanathapuram. He was running a silver smithery unit at Ukkadam.

On Tuesday in the morning, while he was on his way to smithery unit on moped with his 34-yr-old friend S Ganeshan, of Perumal Kovil Street at Ramanathapuram. When they arrived at Sungam, a speeding truck with teak woods, rushing towards, hit their vehicle from behind.

Kumar came under the wheels of the truck and killed on the spot. His friend Ganeshan fell on the road and sustained injuries.

The Traffic Investigation Wing (TIW) of Coimbatore city police hurried to the spot and sent the body to CMCH for postmortem. The police officials seized the truck and the truck driver K Ezhumalai (27) was detained from Chengam in Thiruvannamalai. TIW (east) police filed a case and further investigation is on.
