Chandigarh: Speeding truck rams into SUV, 8 killed


Chandigarh: Late on Friday night in Jhajjar eight persons killed following the SUV rammed over into a speeding truck on Chhuchakwas-Gwalison road near by Maraut village. Seven counting the driver killed on the spot.

One critically wounded killed as on the way to PGIMS Rohtak. The truck driver fled from the spot. A case of careless driving causing death has been filed in Beri police station of Jhajjar district. Police officials has also conveyed that, driver Sukender Singh and others who killed in the mishap involve Birbal Singh, Raghubir Singh, Raju, Bhagirath Dass, Raju and his brother Jagdish and Ramu.

All the fatalities are residents of Patuwas village of Dadri. Hailing from a gypsy community, the fatalities were on the way to Bahadurgarh for some work. The dead bodies were sent to the Jhajjar Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

Senior police officials of the department as well local management hurried to hospital to manage relief actions. According to locals the victims in SUV were on the way to Bahadurgarh. As they arrived the place, a speeding truck coming from the Jhajjar side rammed over into them.

Police officials conveyed that villagers had to use cutters to extract dead bodies. Inspector Daya Nand, the SHO of Beri police station further added that, all the fatalities were into the petty works and were on the way to Bahadurgarh for the farm labor work contract.
