Businessmen cousins rescued by Police from kidnappers


Two businessmen cousins hailing from Abohar town of Punjab were rescued by the Police after a shootout with their kidnappers near Rohtak’s Kharwad village on Tuesday.

They nabbed one of the kidnappers after he was injured in the crossfire. Assisting Gurgaon police were teams of cops from Fatehabad, Jhajjar and Rohtak. The hostages were rescued in Delhi, but two abductors fled.

Commissioner of Gurgaon police Sandeep Khirwar told the media, "We've been working on this case for the past two days. We're happy we managed to get the hostages out safely, Rohtak, Jhajjar and Fatehabad police played important roles. We've caught one abductor who was shot in the cross firing and is currently lodged in PGIMS Rohtak, and we hope to nab the rest soon."

Abohar businessmen Vikas aged 24 years and Aakash Deep aged 25 years residents of Panniwali in Fazilka city, Punjab were kidnapped from Dwarka Expressway by miscreants on Sunday afternoon while they were returning from Delhi IGI airport in a car after dropping their sister.

In the police complaint, mother of Vikas said she got a call from the miscreants who claimed that her son and nephew had been kidnapped and demanded Rs 50 lakh ransom for their release.

One of the relatives of the two cousins, Sumit, reached Gurgaon and lodged a complaint with the police at Rajendra Park police station.

Sources said police received a tip-off that the miscreants was travelling between Rohtak and Jhajjar on Monday evening.

“Based on the tip-off, we carried out the operation and rescued the two kidnapped cousins. We nabbed one of the kidnappers while his two accomplices managed to flee. A police chase to nab them is still going on. We will interrogate the victims and the arrested accused to nab the other two kidnappers,” Khirwar further said.
