Businessman kidnapped at gunpoint in South Delhi


New Delhi: A 34-year-old south Delhi businessman was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint by four men who crashed into his car in Mahipalpur Monday night. They assailants allegedly held him hostage for three hours while they took his Ford Endeavour on a joyride before dumping him outside Shadipur Metro station.

The incident took place on Monday night when Jitender Negi was returning from Mahipalpur to his home in Vasant Kunj, police said. Mr Negi's SUV was hit by another vehicle from behind and as he stopped, three men came out of the other vehicle and overpowered him.

For nearly next three hours he was held hostage in his own vehicle by the trio who kept thrashing him. They also forced him to withdraw money through ATM cards, a police officer said.

Other accomplices of the trio tailed the SUV in the other vehicle. Later, they left Mr Negi with his vehicle near Shadipur bus depot around 2.30 am, he said.

A case has been registered in this connection at Vasant Kunj (south) police station, the officer added.
