Maharashtra: Builder detained For Allegedly duping 2,000 Flat-Buyers


PALGHAR: A builder was detained in Palghar on Thursday for allegedly cheating around 2,000 flat-buyers by taking Rs. 60-70 crore, police said on Thursday.

The builder was detained by the Maharashtra police near the fort area in Mumbai.

The case has been registered at Arnala police station against Azam under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including Maharashtra Ownership Flat Act (MOFA), 1963 and Maharashtra Protection Of Interest Of Depositors Act, 1999.

Atleast six persons were arrested in link with the case, police said.

The builder allegedly duped middle-class and poor families into buying flats from him. He allegedly misappropriated the money and never gave the possession of the flats to the buyers, police said.
