BSF trooper shot dead woman in Tripura, after attempting rape


Tripura: A 24-year-old Muslim housewife was professedly shot dead by BSF troopers in Sonunamura's Bangladesh border of Tripura on Friday. The incident  happened on Friday evening around 60 km south of state capital Agartala in a region under the Dhanpur border station (BOP) of Sepahijal area which is monitored by the 145 brigade of the Border Security Force (BSF).

According ro Reports, BSF jawan tried to rape the victim in absence of any male members of the house while she was bathing, but when she resisted and tried to raise an alarm, the jawan fired upon her and killed her on the spot. It was alleged by locals that the BSF in the name of search and other activities, targets innocents living on the borders and continue their atrocities on them.

Annoyed villagers demanded severe punishment for the BSF jawan, who immediately after the incident, took shelter at a nearby BOP. The murder occurred on the road in proximity of the victim’s home and when most of the males in the locality had gone to the mosque for Friday prayers.

The situation had turned tense in the area and senior police official had rushed to the spot to bring it under control. Meanwhile, family members of the victim had lodged a case with the Sonamura police against the BSF of murder charges along with attempt to rape. Apart from this further investigation going on.
