Break off Nepal President’s Bidya’s tour to India, delegate recalled

New Delhi. Nepal’s first female President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s first tour to India is cancelled.  The reason for cancellation is believed to be the current political instability in the country. Also, Nepal called its ambassador Deep Kumar back.

The decision to call back Upadhyay is being seen as Oli’s bid to deflect the problems towards India. Officials suggested that Upadhyay has been arraigned of trying to oust the Oli government and snuggling up to India.

Earlier this week, the UCPN-Maoist led by Prachanda prompted political instability by declaring end of the coalition. On Thursday, Oli survived a threat to his government after the Prachanda-led Maoists pronounced not to pull out support “for the time being”.

It was President Bidya’s first overseas tour to India. She was about to come on 9 May on invitation of Pranab Mukherjee. She was slated to take part in the ‘royal bath’ in ongoing Simhastha Kumbh in Ujjain on May 14. Government sources in Delhi said, “We were informed that the official visit of President Bhandari is postponed due to fall out in the political situation of Nepal.
