Book published against my wishes: LK Advani

New Delhi: BJP Veteran  L.K. Advani on Thursday expressed his displeasure over the release of a book titled “Advani ke sath 32 Saal”, saying it was published against his wishes. Advani's office released a statement: In a statement, Advani’s secretary, Deepak Chopra, said, “It may be worthy to note that this book does not have the consent of Shri LK Advani and has been published against his wishes.”

According to media report, Srivastava in the book claims that Gujarat BJP leader Harin Pathak had in 1989 suggested Advani to field his son, Jayant, from Gandhinagar. Advani, however, refused, saying, “I do not want nepotism”, the book adds. The book, based on Srivastava’s experiences while working with Advani for over 32 years, has many more such insights. Titled “Advani Ke Saath 32 Saal (32 years with Advani)”, the book covers many aspects of the leader’s life.

As per a private TV channel, the book covers Advani's political life from the Ram Janmabhoomi movement to his opposition to BJP decision to pick Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate in the run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. After Modi won a stunning mandate to become the Prime Minister, Advani was relegated to a advisory committee called the "marg-darshak mandal".

BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy has been invited to release the book, while another BJP MP R.K. Sinha has been invited to preside over the book release function.
