NEW DELHI: Bollywood’s romantic actor Shashi Kapoor died at the age of 79 on Monday in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Ambani Hospital due to prolonged illness. The information about his demise was shared by his nephew, actor Randhir Kapoor on the social media. He wrote, “Yes he has passed away. He had kidney problem since several years. He was on dialysis for several years.”
As per the reports, the funeral of actor will take place on Tuesday.
The actor has worked in superhit films including Deewar, Sharmilee, Namak Halaal Deewar, Shaan, Namak Halal, Kabhi Kabhie, Do Aur Do Paanch, Pyar Kiye Jaa, Junoon. He was born in 1938 to actor Prithviraj Kapoor. As a child actor, Shashi Kapoor began his career in Bollywood from film Aag and Awaara.
After his demise, the Bollywood industry came in shock. On Twitter handle, several renowned actors paid tribute to him.
Shashi Kapoor was honored with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in year 2015. Not only this, he also received Padma Bhushan award for his outstanding acting in films.
‘Deewar’ actor tied knot to actress Jennifer Kendal. He used to live along with his sons Karan, Kunal and daughter Sanjana Kapoor.
