Bollywood Movies That Sparked Controversy Before its Release


‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ was released on July 21st, 2017. The release of the movie was delayed for almost a year by Central Board of Film Certification due to the bold content of the film.

‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ was released in October last year. The members of Cinema Owners Exhibitors Association of India had announced that movies starring Pakistani actors will not be released in India, after Uri attack.

‘Udta Punjab’ which was released last year too got into controversy,  because of its content. A pirated version of the film was also released online before its release sparking further controversy.

Silk Smitha’s brother had an objection regarding the posters that were released and they also sent a notice to the makers of the movie. The story of the film revolved around Silk Smitha’s life.

The content of ‘PK’ had hurt people’s religious sentiments and that is the reason this movie was already in controversy before its release.

‘Nishabd’ was an intense movie which showed that a sixty-year-old married man falls in love with his daughter’s friend who is eighteen years old.
