New Delhi : The BMW G310R is among the most important motorcycle launches of 2016. It will be the first offering from the German bikemaker to be manufactured in India as TVS Motors and BMW Motorrad have signed an agreement. The wait for BMW G310R seems to be ending soon. The bike was spotted testing on the road and according to the reports, it is expected to be launched in the month of October. The official test rider also commented that the exports will begin within a week.
BMW G310R powered by 313cc single-cylinder, liquid cooled engine producing an output of 34 hp at 9500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7500 rpm. BMW G310R will come shod with 110/70 R 17 tyres at the front and 150/60 R 17 at the rear. The motor will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Stopping power will come in the form of disc measuring 300 mm with 4 piston callipers while the rear measures 240 mm with twin piston callipers. BMW Motorrad is expected to price the bike around 2.75-3 lakh rupees and it will be the first of many offerings under the partnership with TVS.
The bike weighs 158.5 kilogrammes and the seat height is just 785mm. In real world conditions, it is expected to return a mileage of around 25 kmpl. The bike will be manufactured at the Hosur facility of TVS and will be exported globally. The BMW G310R will be up against the Duke 390 and the Ninja Z300, priced in between both of them. It will also be pitched against the Honda CB300F and Mahindra Mojo. TVS is readying a fully faired version of the bike which will come in the market as the TVS Apache RTR300, which is being developed under the codename U69. It is expected to run similar machinery as the BMW G310R, but will cost less than its German counterpart. The concept bike was shown at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
