Blue Whale Rescued From Maharashtra’s Konkan coast


MUMBAI: A 47-feet long blue whale was safeguarded from the ocean along a shoreline in Maharashtra's seaside Konkan and was effectively returned to the profound waters.

The whale had floated into shallow waters close to the Jaitapur power plant in Ratnagiri locale.

"It seemed gaunt and more likely than not floated some days back. Yet, since this is a confined spot, it was spotted on Saturday and we were educated by local people," N Vasudevan, boss conservator, mangrove preservation cell, said.

As it was late night that day, salvage operations utilizing pontoons and angling nets were completed yesterday. The operation endured six hours and the whale was driven into the profound oceans.This is the second fruitful salvage of a blue whale in the same locale, he said.
