Jaisalmer: Complaints regarding the ongoing conflict between the members of Jaipur's ex-royal family and the state government have reached the party high command; forcing it to intervene. BJP's national joint general secretary (Org) Saudan Singh on Friday arrived in Jaipur. Sources confirmed that Saudan Singh had been sent to Jaipur to resolve the conflict between the family and the state government.
Singh had separate meetings with Diya Kumari, member of the erstwhile royal family and also a BJP MLA from Sawai Madhopur and chief minister Vasundhara Raje at the state BJP headquarters.
While his meeting with Diya Kumari lasted over two hours, the meeting with Raje and state president Vasundhara Raje was even longer. He first met Diya Kumari and her husband Narendra Singh earlier in the day, with the discussions revolving around recent Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) action against the Rajmahal Palace, owned by the family.
She also is said to have voiced her displeasure over the action and presented before him the related legal documents. Interacting with the mediapersons after the meeting, the MLA claimed that she had met Saudan Singh to discuss party affairs. "I was here to discuss setting up a new party office but we discussed other things. Among that came up the Raj Mahal Palace issue,'' she said.
Admitting she had already met Union home minister Rajnath Singh in this regard earlier this week, she said, "I already have had a talk regarding the matter with Rajnath Singh and hope that it will be resolved amicably,'' she said.
Later in the evening, Singh met Raje and Parnami. He is believed to have got the version of the state government over the matter. The JDA, last week, had sealed the main gates of the Raj Mahal Palace, claiming it had acquired the land in 1993 and has started the acquisition process. The ex-royal family not only had an objection but even took to streets to protest it.
