BJP MLA says Withdraw permission to construct Priyanka Gandhi’s house in Shimla

Shimla : At a time when the dream house of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is nearing completion, the local BJP MLA Suresh Bhardwaj today wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh seeking review and withdrawal of the permission granted to her for house construction in the high security zone, adjacent to the “Retreat”, the summer residence of the President of India.  Around six years after Priyanka Gandhi Vadra started the construction of her dream house at Chharabra near here.

In a letter to Union home minister Rajnath Singh, Bhardwaj has stated 'The Retreat' is also used by other dignitaries during their Shimla visit. He has also stated that the Kalyani helipad near 'The Retreat', just 15km from Shimla, is used by IAF to ferry VVIPs. No construction should be allowed in the vicinity of either The Retreat or the Kalyani helipad, as it is a high security zone," Bhardwaj said. "VVIPs, including the Prime Minister, also visits and stay here and Priyanka's house has put the security of the dignitaries at stake," he added.

Bhardwaj further said the permission to construct a house near The Retreat was denied to several persons, including Commodore Devinderjeet Singh (a retired senior naval officer) for security reasons. "The commodore had purchased around 2,400 sq yards near The Retreat and submitted an application for permission to build cottages. However, permission was denied to him," he said. "How is it possible that Priyanka Gandhi got the permission," asked the BJP MLA.
