Gurgaon: BJP government has taken decision to launch “Progress Panchayat” in Gurgaon due to increase in cases of Malaria and gang rapes. This welfare outreach programme will was announced on Thursday.
At the time of launching, several Union and Haryana Ministers will attend the meeting. This programme is targeted specially among the minority community in the district.
The programme will be addressed by Union minister of state for minority affairs (independent charge) Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. The main purpose of the programme is to eliminate the fear and misunderstanding of the minority community about the BJP government.
Union Ministers Rao Inderjit Singh and Kishan Pal Gurjar, apart from two ministers from Haryana will attend the programme.
"We don't have much clue about what progress panchayat is all about. We got to know barely 10 days ago that the Modi government wants to launch it from here. It is quite apparent that since Mewat has maximum Muslim population and is the most backward district of Haryana, the Centre has decided to launch it from here so that the recent ghastly incidents can be obscured," he added.
Mewat's deputy commissioner Mani Ram Sharma asserted "The Union minister (Naqvi) will address a public gathering at Bichhor village in Punhana, in which around 10,000 people are expected to attend. The government has prepared a holistic plan to develop Mewat and people would be asked to give their suggestions on how they want their district to be developed."
