Bihar : A key suspect in the killing of a journalist in Bihar last month has surrendered before a court in Siwan. Laddan Miyan, who is a contract killer, was released from jail 15 days before Ranjan’s murder. Two hours after the murder of Ranjan, Laddan left Siwan with his family. Police have already arrested five persons in connection with the murder of Siwan journalist Rajdeo Ranjan.
Miyan is a close associate of notorious gangster and former RJD lawmaker Mohammad Shahabuddin who is in jail for over a decade for charges including kidnapping and murder. Shahabuddin was shifted to Bhagalpur jail from Siwan after the incident. During interrogation, it came to light that Miyan, a repeat offender who came out of Siwan jail in late April, had given the contract for Mr Ranjan's murder, police said.
They told police that Miyan had given Rs. 15,000 to Kumar for the murder and promised to help another accused in settlement of a land dispute at his in-laws' place, the police said.
