Bengaluru: Teenager arrested after girl dies during bike stunt


Bengaluru: The Eighteen-year-old Kirtan Richie, who has been arrested for causing the death of his pillion rider by performing a wheelie, did not possess a driving licence, police sources said.

Kirtan Richie has been booked under 'committing culpable homicide not amounting to murder'. His father has also been arrested under abetment which falls under 304 of the IPC.

On September 1,  a teenage girl, identified as Shiny Kiran K, came under a mini-truck after falling off Richie's bike when he did a wheelie on Old Madras Road. The accused had no license and had met an accident in Hebbal in 2014. Post accident he was using the bikes of his friends to perform stunts.

Kirtan Ritchie, a first year student of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, borrowed a bike from friend and took the victim for a bike ride on September 1. Ritchie performed the wheelie while Shiny was on the back seat.

The victim lost the balance during the stunt and subsequently came under a mini-truck. After the incident, Ritchie was staying at his friend's house. The accused did not carry any license and had met an accident in Hebbal in 2014. Police have booked Kirtan Ritchie as well as the minor and his father in the case.
