A renowned Veteran Hindi and Bengali actress Sumita Sanyal died at the age of 71. She tied knot with film editor Subodh Roy.
Sanyal entered into the Bengali industry in year 1960 with film ‘Khokhababur Pratyabartan’. She had done more than 40 Bengali movies involving ‘Sagina Mahato’ that featured Dilip Kumar. In Film Kuheli, she was featured in lead role opposite Biswajit and Sandhya Roy.
She was seen in superhit film ‘Anand’ that hit the theatres in year 1970 alongside Amitabh Bachchan. She has done commendable acting in Hindi films ‘Guddi’, ‘Aashirwad’ and ‘Mere Apne’. Sanyal was born on October 9, 1945.
After her death, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also shared a tweet, “Saddened at the passing of veteran actress Sumita Sanyal. My condolences to her family, friends and fans”
Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee posted, “Saddened to hear about the demise of the veteran actress Sumita Sanyal May her soul rest in peace”
