Bangladesh reaches to sixth position in ICC ODI rankings for first time


Bangladesh cricket team achieved sixth position in the ODI rankings on Wednesday by beating New Zealand by 5 wickets in the matches that was held in Ireland. However, New Zealand team won the tournament but Bangladesh got a boost up after their triumph in the last matches.

The team is now positioned above Sri Lanka, Pakistan and West Indies in the tally table. This win will help the Bangladesh team to face off England in the ICC Champions Trophy matches that will begin on 1 June.

Currently, Bangladesh is placed above Sri Lanka with 93.3 points while Sri Lanka has 92.8 points.

Bangladesh beat New Zealand by 5 wickets in Dublin. The team clinched 270/8 score in the 50 over matches.  Skipper Tom Latham scored 84 runs in the game.

Talking about New Zealand side, Neil Broom and Ross Taylor secured 63 and 60* respectively. Bangladesh team lost their first wicket at a score of 7.

Tamim Iqbal and Sabbir Rahman’s marvellous batting helped the team to clinch good score. However, the partnership of two batsmen got over after the loss of wicket. On the other hand, wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim achieved 45 runs.

In the tally table, Bangladesh lies above Pakistan by 5 points and West Indies team has 14 points.
