Bali: 2 killed, 18 injured in a tourists boat explosion


According to police officials on Thursday an explosion on a tourist boat close to the Indonesian island of Bali has left two people dead and 18 other foreigners wounded. Sources have also further conveyed that, an Austrian woman and another female foreigner were killed in the blast, which emerged to have originated in the boat’s fuel tank soon following it set sail.

“The blast occured five minutes following the boat departed,” local police chief Sugeng Sudarso conveyed, adding that the boat was only about 650 ft. from port when the occurrence happened. The explosion appears to have been a mishap. Police has also further conveyed that, a bomb group had investigated the vehicle and ruled out an attack. The boat was transporting some 35 foreign passengers and four crew associates when it left eastern Bali for the island of Gili Trawangan, a popular tourist destination.

According to AFP beginning information from police pointed toward that the wounded passengers counted nationals from the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the two people who were killed, but AFP cited police conveying that both were female foreigners and that one died from head wounded.
