A Punjab court upheld the two-year imprison term given to performing artist Alka Kaushal and her mom regarding a cheque bounce case, reports. Alka Kaushal, 47, was recently observed in Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan, in which she played the part of Kareena Kapoor Khan’s onscreen mother. A report distributed in media expressed that Ms Kaushal allegedly borrowed Rs. 50 lakh from a Punjab-based farmer Avtar Singh to produce a TV program. However, Ms Kaushal was not able return the amount and when Mr Singh demanded she returned his cash, Ms Kaushal gave him two cheques of Rs. 25 lakh each which bounced, Mr Singh’s lawyer revealed to media. Mr Singh at first filed a case against the performer and her mom in 2015 in Malerkotla, where they were sentenced to two-year jail term. Ms Kaushal and her mom moved the Sangrur court, which upheld the past court’s decision and the performer and her mom are currently in Sangrur district jail, reports.
Alka Kaushal is married to TV preducer and director Ravi G Kaushal with whom she owns Mangalam Arts. She is known for her parts in television shows like Swaragini, Qubool Hai and Kumkum. On the big screen, she additionally played the part of Kangana Ranaut’s mom in the Vikas Bahl-directed Queen.
Alka Kaushal’s sibling is performing artist Varun Badola, who is known for shows like Koshish – Ek Aashaa and Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand. He is presently plays the part of Raghav Srivastava in Mere Angne Mein. Alka Kaushal’s sister is a radio jockey based out of Mumbai.
