NEW DELHI: Nearly 20 passengers killed as 14 coaches of a Patna-Indore Express derailed near Pukharayam in Kanpur on Sunday.
One of the Inspector-general Kanpur, Zaki Ahmed claimed that, ‘Around 20 bodies have been recovered from the spot’. The rescue operation is in process while several other passengers have faced injuries.
Spokesperson of Indian Railways, Anil Saxena, said, "Senior officials and medical team have been rushed to the spot. We are in contact with the district officials officials."
The investigation is in process. Moreover, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has told the director-general of police to personally check out why the incident happened.
