Atleast 17 people killed as a private bus carrying more than 40 people fell into a pit on Friday near Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh.
The rescue operations are in process by the workers.
The incident took place when a bus fell down on its way to Jaora from Ratlam. The accident occurred near Namli town.
Additional Superintendent of Police Dr Prashant Choube said, "The pit which was burrowed to gather earthen material for laying streets was lying left and rain water got filled into it. By all appearances, the speeding transport fell into it after its controlling fizzled and the driver lost control of the vehicle".
As indicated by onlookers, the transport was proceeding onward a rapid and all of a sudden it toppled and fell into the extensive water pit.
The ASP said that almost 13 individuals were hauled out from the transport in harmed condition and alluded to close-by healing centers. Endeavors were on to haul the transport out of water with the assistance of nearby inhabitants.
