Assembly Election 2016 results: India going Cong-free

New Delhi/Kolkata. The Assembly election result declared on Thursday got two surprising factors. First, BJP got victory in North-East for the first time, ousting the Congress for the first time. Secondly, Jayalalithaa won two consecutive elections alike MGR 32 years back. Mamta’ power prevailed in Bengal. While Congress lost against LEFT in Kerala, BJP got its first seat in the state.

  • Modi said, “Assam’s victory of BJP is as much surprising for many, as BJP is a part of Jammu & Kashmir.

RESULTS:

Assam (Total Seats- 126)

  • BJP: 86(+59)
  • Congress: 26 (-52)
  • AIUDF:13 (-5)
  • Others: 1 (-2)

West Bengal (Total Seats- 294)

  • TMC: 211 (+27)
  •  Left + Congress: 84 (-20)
  •  BJP: 3 (+3)
  •  Other: 4 (-2)

Tamil Nadu:

  • AIADMK (Jayalalithaa) 134 (-16)
  • DMK (Karunanidhi's party): 89 (+66)
  • Con: 8 (+3)
  • Other: 01 (-55)

Kerala:

  • Left Front: 85 (+17)
  • UDF (Congress): 47 (-25)
  • BJP: 01 (+1)
  • Other: 7 (+7)

Puducherry:

  • Congress and DMK: 17 (+8)
  • AINRC: 8 (-7)
  • AIADMK: 4 (-1)
