In Assam’s Tinsukia district at least two persons were killed and five persons were wounded when militants commenced fire. Assam DGP Mukesh Sahay has also further conveyed that, the incident happened at about 8 p.m. Combing procedures are going on. Senior officials are present on the spot. He also further conveyed that ULFA (Independent) may be behind the occurrence.
The area where the incident happened has high presence of Army and security forces. The event comes a week following NDFB (S) militants commenced fire on Balajan Tinali market in the State’s Kokrajhar district, killing 14 people. There has been a general alert of likely terrorist attack ahead of Independence Day.
Police Officials has also further conveyed that, a collection of five armed militants of the anti-talk ULFA faction came to the dwelling of Arvind Shah, a small trader, of the village under Philobari police station, and commenced fire at some people sitting outside.
DIG Bishnu Prasad Rabha conveeyd two persons were killed in the firing. They have been recognized as Kishori Teli and Rajesh Shah. The wounded were transfered to Assam Medical College Hospital in neighbouring Dibrugarh district.
Representatives have also further conveyed that, police and paramilitary forces have been organized and security measures tightened in the district. On Thursday in Philobari, suspected ULFA-I militants had exploded an ad hoc explosive devise in a drain near Badalbheta Tea Estate but none was offended.
