In a landslide in Assam a six-year-old girl was killed on Monday morning, police said. Dipika Barman was planning to go to class when mud from an adjacent hill collapsed and covered her in Panikhaiti range.
Although her parents and neighbors uncovered her quickly and surged her to a hospital, the doctors proclaimed her dead. Perpetual rains have been triggering destruction in various parts of Assam and the upper east for a few days.
The Assam government has identified several hill areas in Guwahati and bordering regions as landslide prone. They have prompted occupants to be cautious on stormy days.
