Assam Congress chief Anjan Dutta passes away


New Delhi:  The president of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee Anjan Dutta passed away on Thursday morning at the AIIMS hospital in Delhi.  He suffered from cardiac failure.

Congress president Dutta was 64 and he had been admitted to the Apollo hospital on 18 May at the department of Pulmonary Sciences in the hospital.

He was initially admitted to the Apollo Hospital in New Delhi on 12 May with complaints of severe chest infection.

Dutta’s close relative Geetartha Darshsn Baruah said, “He died due to cardiac failure at 7:11 on Thursday morning”

He was a Cabinet Minister and had been handling several departments including transport, in the state in the past. Dutta was appointed APCC President on 13 December, 2014 and had been holding the post ever since.
