Aam Aadmi convenor Arvind Kejriwal has taken decision not to visit Gujarat after the State refused to give nod for a public meeting.
He was being invited by small traders and businessmen as the chief guest to an All Gujarat Traders Meet on July 10 to celebrate the 10th year of Surat Vividh Vepari Mahamandal.
Also, the booking of Kejriwal got cancelled and forced the trade body to withdraw the invitation, officials said.
Kejriwal has been trying to obtain a foothold in Narendra Modi’s home State which would go to the Assembly polls next year.
The main motive behind his visit was meant to publicize that his own party which overpowered BJP in Delhi last year would contest the Assembly polls.
"The state authorities pressurized the traders and businessmen to withdraw the invitation or face consequences," Mr. Kalsaria said.
Another AAP leader and Delhi MLA Gulab Singh said the "Gujarat BJP government is frustrated because AAP is emerging as a strong force in the State."
Moreover, Mr. Kejriwal also criticized Gujarat government for jailing Hardik Patel, leader of the Patel quota agitation, in two sedition cases and demanded his release from the jail immediately.
