Arunachal Pradesh: 14 killed in massive landslide


Itanagar: Yesterday in Papumpare district of Arunachal Pradesh, 14 people killed in a landslide caused by flood due to persistent rains in former three days. The district management conveyed that all the deceased have been buried alive by the landslide.

An official further conveyed that the landslide happened at Laptap village in Sagalee sub-division in the district at about 3 pm. He further added that, we have introduced a hunt and rescue operation for any likely survivors.

Chief minister Pema Khandu tweeted, “Deeply saddened by news of deaths due to landslide in Laptap village in Papumpare district. More still buried. My condolence n prayers. NDRF, state police n medical team are on duty to rescue rest of the buried people.”

CM further added that, managerial advisories have been issued to people to move out from susceptible areas to prevent loss of lives. Incessant rain for the previous few days has disrupted surface communication and water supply, electricity in the state capital and in other parts of the state.
