According to a report in Livemint, Reliance Jio GigaFiber is ready to offer a broadband-landline-TV combo service at a monthly cost of Rs 600, as well as the option of adding at least 40 devices for up to 1000 rupees on its smart home network.
Currently, at the trial stage, Reliance Jio is providing 100 GB data at 100 Gbps for GigaFiber free in Delhi and Mumbai, while depositing Rs. 4500 as a deposit for a router once. It has been stated in the report that in the next three months, telephonic and TV services will be launched commercially and the three services are expected to remain free for almost one year.
Unlimited calling service will be available on the landline while television channels will be distributed on the Internet (Internet Protocol Television).
"All of these offerings will be operated through the ONT (Optical Network Terminal) box router, which connects 40-45 devices such as mobile phones, smart TVs, laptops, tablets, and many smart devices," a source told Livemint.
Additional services like gaming, closed-circuit television, and the smart home system can also be included.
“While the triple combo—which will offer 600 channels with seven-day catch-up option, landline, and 100 Mbps broadband—will be priced ₹600 a month, the tariff for adding other smart home services may cost extra and depending on the plan, the tariff could go up to ₹1,000 a month," the source added.
With 100 Mbps Internet speed, going up to 1 gigabyte per second (Gbps), Jio will allow GigaFiber Cloud to store CCTV surveillance footage and other data, which can be accessed by devices.
Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani had earlier announced that GigaFiber will be the largest Greenfield Fixed Line Broadband rollout globally, which will be presented concurrently in 1,100 cities across India.
