Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly believes that all-rounder Vijay Shankar will not be included in the squad for the World Cup to be held this year in England. Ganguly has not told any reason why Vijay is not involved in the team. However, the selection committee chief MSK Prasad recently assured that Vijay Shankar was part of India's World Cup plan.
Vijay had made an impressive performance against New Zealand. He was the second highest run-maker for India in the T20 series. He scored 84 runs in three matches. In the last and final match of the series, he played a wonderful innings of 43 runs but team could not win the match. He also played an important innings of 45 runs in the third ODI against New Zealand.
Despite Vijay was not included in the World Cup team, Ganguly has praised the performance in his T20 series. Ganguly said in the talk about India TV show cricket, "Vijay Shankar has improved his batting and Rishabh Pant has played well, but I do not think Shankar will play into the World Cup."
