- Ajinkya Rahane joined Rajasthan Royals in 2011, Trent Bolt playing in Delhi and Ankit Rajput Punjab team
- IPL transfer window will close on 14 November
Ajinkya Rahane, the vice-captain of the Indian Test team, will now be seen playing in the IPL with the Delhi Capitals franchise replacing Rajasthan Royals. The transfer process between the two teams was completed on Thursday. In place of Rahane, the Rajasthan team got leg-spinner Mayank Markandey and bowling all-rounder Rahul Tewatia. Apart from this, after two other transfer deals for the next season, Trent Bolt will now play Mumbai Indians and Ankit Rajput will play Rajasthan. After the transfer window closes on Thursday, no player will be able to transfer between franchises.
Rahane was associated with Rajasthan team since 2011. He was retained for Rs 4 crore. The Delhi team had been in talks with the Rajasthan team to take on Rahane for the past several months. His acquisition was first talked about when Sourav Ganguly was an advisor to Delhi Capitals. This deal was done by Delhi only based on their choice. Ganguly feels that Rahane is a player of all formats. According to reports, Rahane also wanted to change the team. After eight matches in this season of the IPL, he was removed and handed the captaincy to Steve Smith. He was not happy about this.
