The Indian Premier League governing council has imposed a fine of Rs 12 lakh on the Rajasthan Royals team captain Ajinkya Rahane. He was fined because of not being able to finish the over in the given time against the Chennai Super Kings in the 12th session of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This match was played on Sunday at M. Chidambaram Stadium, where Rajasthan Royals were defeated by 8 runs.
"As it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Rahane was fined Rs 12 lakh," read an official IPL statement.
Rahane is the second captain in the season who has been fined. Earlier over slow over rate against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Rohit Sharma was fined 12 lakhs. Punjab won this match.
It is noteworthy that captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored an unbeaten 75 in 46 balls and Chennai Super Kings had scored 175 runs for 5 wickets against Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan team could score only 167 runs in 8 wickets.
