The days of thick and heavy bats are now gone. Now batsman chooses the bats they are most comfortable to play with. Check out what these big hitters of IPL wield instead to send the ball soaring:
The captain of the Indian cricket team Virat Kohli uses bats that weigh between 1.1 and 1.23 kg and are made of Grade-A English willow. The bat comes with a curved blade, thickness ranging from 38 to 42 mm. The price of the bats ranges between Rs 17,000 to Rs 23,000. A bat’s price is determined by the number of grains present on the surface of the bat. Kohli’s bats feature eight to 12 grains.
Gayle’s favourite bat is a Spartan CG ‘The Boss’. It has a large bow, light pickup, edges stretched to the maximum 40 mm and a 12-piece cane handle. The bat weighs between 1.1 to 1.3 kg.
Suresh Raina prefers to wield variants of the Sanspareils Greenlands (SG) bats that have a big sweet spot, big edge, power drive handle, rounded face profile and thickness ranging from 7 to 41 mm.
MS Dhoni has it's own taste when it comes to choosing a bat. He uses Spartan MSD 7 Limited Edition. His bats weigh between 1.1 to 1.25 kg and have larger swell depth. The bat used by MS Dhoni features a nine-piece cane handle for better balance and strength.
