Pakistan has decided to release 360 Indian prisoners on a humanitarian basis. These prisoners have completed their sentence. These Indian prisoners will be released from next Monday. Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesman Dr. Mohammad Faisal said that 537 Indian prisoners are serving sentence in Pakistani jails including 355 fishermen and five civilians.
These prisoners will be released in four batches. Pakistani spokesman Faisal said that 100 Indian fishermen would be released on Tuesday. After this, the second batch of Indian fishermen will be released on April 15. Then 100 more fishermen will be released on April 22.
"Pakistan expects that India will reciprocate the gesture to release 347 Pakistani prisoners, including 249 civilians and 98 fishermen, currently languishing in Indian jails," the spokesman said.
“We hope that India will reciprocate this,” the foreign office spokesman said.
Pakistan decided to release Indian prisoners on the basis of cordiality when the elections for the Lok Sabha are going to take place.
