The Pakistani army has appointed Lieutenant General Asim Munir as Chief of New Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). Media wing of Pakistani Army informed on Wednesday that Asim Munir has been made Director General of ISI. Asim Munir will replace lieutenant general of his predecessor ISI Chief Navid Mukhtar.
In the Pakistani media, the idea of making Asim Munir's next ISI chief was already being implemented. The Pakistani army promoted five Major Generals in September and made them lieutenant general. Among them, Asim Munir was also involved.
Lieutenant General Asim Munir has earlier served as Director General of Military Intelligence. Apart from this, he also served as Commander of the Force Command Northern Area. He has also got the Hilal-e-Imtiaz Award in March 2018.
In addition to Asim Munir, the media wing of the Pakistani army has also given information about the appointment of other officers on important posts of the army. According to the Pakistani news website Dawn, the information provided by the Pak army is that Lieutenant General Azhar Saleh will take charge of Chief of Logistics Staff in Abbasi General Headquarters (GHQ). Lieutenant General Nadeem Zaki has been made Commander of Peshawar Corps.
In the latest appointments, Lieutenant General Abdul Aziz has been made the Military Secretary in General Headquarters.
