The wait for every Indian is finally going to end. UN can designate Maulana Masood Azhar, the mastermind of the Pulwama terror attack, and Jaish-e-Mohammed's leader, as a Global Terrorist. India had been engaged in this effort since the past, but China was becoming a hurdle on the way using its veto power. But now China has agreed to the decision and ready to withdraw its veto power.
According to sources, the proposal was jointly proposed by the United States, the UK, and France, after which there was a lot of pressure on China. India was trying for a decade that Masud Azhar should be declared a Global Terrorist. But, China had used its veto power four times.
Since the terrorist attack on February 14 in Pulwama, Jammu, and Kashmir, India had intensified efforts to ban Masood Azhar. The proposal was also brought to the United Nations Security Council. But China vetoed it and stopped it. After that, the United States, France, and the UK pushed forward India's proposal, and now China has to undergo pressure.
It will be the first time that a terrorist will be declared a Global Terrorist because of any terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, Hafiz Saeed was declared a Global Terrorist after the Mumbai attacks. This ban on Masood Azhar is believed to be India's diplomatic victory.
Until now, China, which came to the rescue of Pakistan, did not do anything here and had to bow down under international pressure.
The statement came on behalf of China only on Tuesday: "China supports the issue of listing, which should be resolved through political consultation within the framework of the 1267 Committee. That is also the consensus of the overwhelming majority of the members of the Council. At present, the relevant consultations are underway in the 1267 Committee. And positive progress has been made. We believe in the joint efforts of all parties. This problem can be properly solved," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson."
