Twitter was abuzz in the early hours of Friday after user claimed that they heard loud sound twice. However, the reasons behind the these loud sounds could not be ascertained till now. But people were sharing about it on social media and trying to find out the reasons behind it. Many users shared their theories about what the sounds could be.
Twitter users said the loud sounds were heard at around 1am on Friday. A dozen users on social media wrote about the explosion. But the local police and administration have denied the exact information of such incident and have tried to calm the nerves of the local users, saying "everything was okay" in the city.

"I appeal to the people to not believe in rumours on social media. Everything is okay. As per our information nothing has happened," Jagjit Singh Walia, ADCP Amritsar, told news agency ANI.

Amritsar city of Punjab is just 33 km from the Indo-Pak border. Therefore, people are also seeing this phenomenon by linking Pakistan with any bomb or aerial attack.
Since the attack on February 14 in Pulwama, the tension in India-Pakistan relations remains intact. At the same time, after the air strikes by the IAF in Balakot, high alert is on to the borders of both countries.
