Lalu Yadav, who is serving a jail sentence in the fodder scam, has sought bale on medical grounds. The CBI has strongly opposed it. Today the Supreme Court will pronounce that Lalu Yadav will be given bail or he will stay in jail. At present, he is being treated at RIKI Rims.

This is the first election for the people of Bihar after the 1980s which is being fought in the absence of Lalu Prasad Yadav. The command of the Rashtriya Janata Dal is in their hands but the thinking of his two sons do not match and they opposed each other. His eldest son, Pratap, has opened a rival against Rashtriya Janata Dal and talking about bringing out candidates from two places by making Lalu Rabri Morcha.

Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is now in the NDA. The RJD does not have any leader who can fight with other political parties. Lalu wants to come out on health grounds but the CBI says that he would be involved in politics after coming out. At today's hearing, it can be decided that Lalu will come out or stay in jail.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi will hear his bail plea. Lalu Yadav's role in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections has not been revealed yet. If he get bail then the electoral equation can change in Bihar.

“During the period in which the petitioner remained in hospital, he is not only granted a special paying ward with all facilities but he is virtually conducting his political activities from there which would be clear from the list of visitors,” the CBI said in its reply to Yadav’s plea. The agency said that Yadav, who claimed to be so unwell as to be hospitalised, has now suddenly become fit and wants bail.

Lalu Prasad has been convicted in three cases related to a fodder scam involving more than Rs. 900 crores. Yadav was convicted along with fifteen others in December 2017.
